Applewood Veterinary Clinic describes itself as a small-animal practice for dogs, cats, and a range of small pets (including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds and chelonians), aiming to provide “up to date equipment” for diagnosis and “sensible prices.” Recent reviews most often highlight routine surgeries (spaying/neutering) with structured follow-up (next-day check-in calls and included post-op rechecks), plus end-of-life support (including an out-of-hours euthanasia mentioned by one owner). There is also a serious negative account alleging delayed diagnostics for a breathing crisis (initially no X-rays/bloodwork due to time), followed by rapid deterioration and death—so experiences appear mixed depending on the case and circumstances.

Hi please make sure to read edits at the bottom of this post. Thanks I brought my dog Polly to The vets in applewood village yesterday because her breathing was so bad. When I brought her there the vet said it’s most likely an infection in her trachea or worst case a collapsed trachea. He said her heart and lungs were healthy and she had no heart murmur. He prescribed her antibiotics steroids and codant because he “didn’t have time for blood work or X-rays”. He said to come back in 3 days if it doesn’t get better. Today at 12 we had to bring her back because she had gotten worse and was struggling even more to breathe. She also hadn’t slept in 2 days and developed diarrhoea and a swollen belly and wouldn’t eat or drink so that resulted in her not being able to take her meds. The same vet then done X-rays and blood work. He also administered 4 injections. He said there was too much fluid around her heart to see her heart but also said there was fluid in her lungs. He diagnosed her with chronic heart failure but still sent her home with more meds, knowing she’s not eating. I tried for 20 mins to get her to take the tablet with some ham, chicken and cheese. She wouldn’t take it. So I had to dissolve it in a small bit of water and syringe it into her mouth. By 4 o’clock she had gotten worse. We brought her into clonsilla village vet (who were amazing, the vet who saw us was called Andrea) they couldn’t understand why a vet would send a dog home with chronic heart failure and with her lungs and belly full of fluid. She said she should have been admitted the first time the vet in applewood had seen her. She said she could feel the heart murmur with her fingers it was so obvious. We had to take Polly to the animal hospital in UCD to be admitted and to be closely monitored. This could all have been avoided if the vet in applewood had done all essential testing when she first brought in but apparently he “didn’t have the time”. My advice is not to bring Your pets to applewood vets as they clearly don’t care about the animals who come in and your poor pet deserves the best care they can get. All we hope now is Polly can get the care she deserves and can live her out the rest of days happy and healthy. I’ve attached pictures below you can see how sick she even looks EDIT 1: at 8pm tonight Polly passed away. My heart is completely shattered Who knows what the outcome would’ve been if Polly was given the correct care and testing from the start. I’ll miss u forever Polly💔 EDIT 2: responding to the reply below. You said the vet done everything he could when he literally said to my face “I don’t have time for X-rays or bloodwork” that’s fair enough since you were fully booked but he could have recommended I go somewhere else for further testing, which he didn’t do and sent her home. That’s lie number 1. Lie number 2 is you said in your reply (below) Pollys condition was so serious that nothing could be done for her. This information was not given to us on either visit to your clinic and you sent her home again with more meds which we told you she couldn’t take as she wasn’t eating or drinking and no attempt was made to drain the fluid from her swollen body. And again no recommendations to take her elsewhere to be monitored as she so desperately needed. So no you did not do everything you could. This clinic is an absolute disgrace. Still lying and can’t take accountability for your actions. Please don’t take your pets here!!

I have brought three of my pets here and they’ve been great with all them. From explaining issues with my dog in ways I can understand, to an out of hours euthanasia of one of my cats, to the monthly top-up care of my other cat, they’ve been fantastic with all of it. Cannot recommend their services enough.

We recently lost our beloved dog, Wendy, and the team at Applewood Vets showed such genuine compassion and care throughout her final days. None of us expected it to happen so suddenly, but that’s the nature and fragility of life — they give everything right until they can’t. John and the team were exceptional — kind, patient, and deeply respectful. They did everything possible for her and supported us with real empathy. The thoughtful card they sent afterwards was a small gesture that meant so much — a truly personal touch we’ll never forget. Pauline & Edward Harley

I’d like to thank Applewood Vet Clinic for taking such good care of my cat Molly during her spaying surgery. The pre-surgery consultation was free of charge, and the follow-up appointments were included in the surgery price, which gave me great peace of mind. Everything went smoothly, and I even got a call the next day to check how Molly was doing. The whole team was so professional and caring – we really appreciate it! 💕🐾

I want to say a massive thank you to Applewood veterinary clinic for the great care they took of my bulldog when he was neutered recently. From the very second we walked in the staff were nothing but nice, it is clear to see they really like their jobs and love animals as they were rubbing him and playing with him which he loves and was so excited. The surgery went well, the cut was very neat and healed excellent. The staff called us the next day to see how he was and said if we needed anything to get on to them straight away. The surgery was extremely well priced compared to quotes I had gotten in the past and included pain medication and come which is extra in some places. The vet who took his stitches out was so gentle and friendly and My dog didn’t even flinch. She also had a look in his ears as we taught they may have been infected so she cleaned them. The whole experience was great and I would not hesitate to recommend them to everyone. As soon as my current plan is up I will be moving my dog to this vet’s. The clinic was also spotless clean. Thank you so much

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Applewood Vet Clinic has provided my dog Rexi with exceptional, caring, and professional treatment. Dr. John has been truly outstanding — always thorough, patient, and dedicated, ensuring Rexi gets the very best care. I am also grateful to Dr. Radu, who has always welcomed us warmly and been incredibly helpful. Thank you, Dr. John, Dr. Radu, and the entire Applewood Vet Clinic team for your kindness and commitment — you have my highest recommendation. Over the past seven years, I have met many vets who have treated Rexi, but the very best care has been here. I wholeheartedly recommend this clinic to everyone.❤️ Monika&Gabor
