Village Vets Lissenhall is part of the Village Vets group. Recent reviews suggest itâs set up for routine appointments and ongoing care (clients mention being with the practice âfor yearsâ and staff âexplained everything wellâ), alongside more complex cases such as orthopaedic surgery (a dog had shoulder surgery involving a metal plate, with aftercare and regular check-ups discussed). Owners also mention a small-animal health plan, and that the team has been adapting to a temporary setup while a new building is awaited.
Feedback is mixed: many owners describe careful, kind handling (including compassionate support during euthanasia), while a small number of reviews raise serious concerns about missed diagnosis and communication/consent around major surgical decisions.
Services and capabilities specifically mentioned in the available information include
4.5 stars from 423 reviews. - Long-term loyalty and day-to-day care: several owners say theyâve attended âfor yearsâ and felt their pets were carefully looked after, with time taken to explain options.

We have been going to this Vets for years with all our dogs. The care is exceptional at all stages of our dogs lives. Thoroughly recommend bringing your pet to them.

Amazing team of vet and admin! Very kind, quick, efficient. The health plan is such a brilliant idea for small animals. Can't wait to see the new building- it must be not the most comfortable working in the parking lot but well done to the whole team of adapting this change.

My beloved cat, Stan, had to be sent to cat heaven last week. He was almost 16 years old so he had a long happy life. Jamie, the vet, could not have been more compassionate. All of the staff were absolutely brilliant. I would highly recommend them. Patricia Byrne

Throughout Uziâs entire illness, we felt truly cared for every step of the way, right up until the very end. The entire staff showed us so much kindness, compassion, and support. We are deeply grateful for everything you did for us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Lissenhall Vets sole focus is making money and not the care of your animal. I brought my 9 year old cat to Lissenhall to be told he had arthritis and sent on my way. I knew something wasn't right and took him to another vet who confirmed instantly that he had a large mass in his abdomen. After blood tests, xrays and an ultrasound it was confirmed he had cancer and unfortunately passed away 4 weeks later. To be told its nothing when your pet is in fact dying has to be the absolute worst. There were a number of issues I had with the service in Lissenhall but obviously this was top of the list. I would never ever recommend any pet owner bring their pet here.

Extremely disappointing and distressing experience. Our dog Zola had shoulder surgery earlier this year at Lissenhall, now merged with Village Vets Ashbourne. Despite following every aftercare instruction and having regular checkups, the metal plate from her surgery broke while she was in their own affiliated boarding kennels. We were told this was a âone in a careerâ occurrence; with no clear explanation and no responsibility taken. Worse, we discovered our dog was scheduled for an amputation without our consent and without even a follow-up call from the surgeon to discuss options. We have faced delayed responses, dismissive and condescending communication, and shifting of accountability between locations, despite having paid over âŹ3,000 to their practice already. We were quoted almost the same cost again for revision surgery, even though the surgeon stated his fee would be waived. Staff even referred to our visibly distressed dog as âcrazyâ during her consultation; after everything she has been through. This is not how responsible care or professional medical services should be handled. We are now pursuing a small claims court case.
